What is facilitated diffusion?

Facilitated diffusion is the movement of molecules from the cell membrane where they are very dense to the medium where they are less dense with the help of a carrier. Water and some water-soluble substances, glucose, (with permease carrier protein), amino acids, fructose, B and C vitamins, salts, some ions.
