Filming began in February 2015 in London and the Tampa Bay Area. The film premiered at Fantastic Fest in Austin, Texas on September 25, 2016, and was theatrically released by 20th Century Fox on September 30, 2016. It received mixed reviews and grossed $296 million worldwide against a production budget of $110 million.

After studying architectural engineering at a Berlin high school, he worked as an engineer in Scandinavia, Germany. In 1903, with Birkilan of the University of Christiania (now Oslo), he commercialized the high-temperature method of nitrogen oxidation by electrical discharge in air, and this product, which uses inexpensive hydroelectric power in Norway, was sold as Norwegian saltstone. In addition to running a hydroelectric company founded in 05, he also serves as a Norwegian parliamentarian and ambassador to Poland.
